Nice shot Dave, haven't been up Margery hill in years forgot all about the place until you mentioned it up at Belper. Normally go to Saddleworth Moor for mountain hares. If I remember correctly I think I parked at Fairholmes and walked is that where you park as well.

Didn't realise they were so close!! I thought a journey to Scotland was needed! ?

Yeah, they were imported for shooting, Victorian times I think. Don’t you just love the British!

 

Good thing is they’re still there, best places I know are above the top end of the Dereent Dams, and on Bleaklow

Hi Phil,

 It was on Margery Hill. This is the next hill North of Derwent Edge, which is on the Eastern side of The Ladybower/Derwent/Howden Dams. You can't actually walk North from Derwent Edge though, need to drive (in the week) to the Kings Tree which at the North End of Howden Resevoir, and approach from there.
