For those of you who are new to this, I use FULL APERTURE SOLAR FILTERS only. I have sometimes managed to see sunspots in smaller instruments but I normally use 15x70 bins. I usually make drawings from my observations, an example of which is below:

I am increasingly using my DSLR on its own for quick "grab and go" snapping but "bin scanning" is my choice when I'm away from home. I often check for positions with bins when sunspots are faint and I might not get them on camera.

That looks like a Mercury transit event, but its a little big, and yet too small for Venus !! ?

In just under 6 months time a real one will occur : mark it in your diary....November 11.  Starts 12:35hrs
