Impressive photos thanks for sharing.  The ones on the wing make them look like helicopters.  To think that dragonflies have been around since the dinosaurs. 

I was fortunate and got to see a raft spider when I was at RSPB Minsmere a couple of years ago.

Was it as big as your hand Doug?

Unfortunately not, and my hand is small! They had photo of it on the map showing its front legs held together in front so I knew what it was.  It would be quite something to see one that size.

Excellent Mick, I've been past Whixall Moss whilst on the Llangollen canal and never thought to stop and have a look at the place.
