Jupiter through the murk

Had an unbelievable night tonight.

Started off with the scope in Cass mode but soon realised that the seeing was not good enough at that kind of focal length.

So at 2 o'clock this morning I changed it back into Newt mode.

interesting task in the dark but strangely satisfying none the less.

After collimating it  I stuck in my 2 inch EP and had a look around whilst waiting for Jupiter to show herself above the horizon.

The views of M3 were amazing.

Jupiter finally rose out of the murk around 3 ish, so after a good look through the EP I swapped over to the point grey camera.

Quite pleased with how this tuned out especially as I was only using the top two inches of the scope.

This was the only bit that was clear of the top of the obs. 

As daylight was coming in fast Saturn made her appearance.

Unfortunately she was too low and it was too light to get an image but I did manage a few mins looking at her through the ST 80 I have mounted on the top of the main scope.

Saturn's beauty never ceases to amaze me.

Roll on when she is back high in the sky.

Graham,

 That sounds like an absolutely amazing night. To stay up all of that time, constantly changing kit and objectives show a steely determination,  amazing stuff.

 

 And to come up with a great image of Jupiter after all of that just tops it off.

I did think about getting the SCT on the mount but after yesterday afternoons gardening I decided agaist it.
