Ilkeston & District AS - Meetings at the Hayloft have now ended with immediate effect

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

After several months of discussions, the Committee has now reluctantly taken the decision to end the Society’s main (2nd Tuesday of the month) meetings at the Hayloft, Erewash Museum, Ilkeston, with immediate effect.

The cost of hiring the facilities is now no longer sustainable, so after some 35 years at the Hayloft, we now have to bring our meetings there to a close.

We are currently in the process of organising an alternative meeting venue, which we will announce as soon as possible.   As a result of the above, our planned meeting on June 11th 2019 has been cancelled, and will not take place.

Our normal informal last Wedneday of the month meetings at the Green Room, Shipley Park Visitor Centre will continue as normal.

This situation is currently “fluid”, so we’ll let you know what happens as soon as possible.

I am posting this information, to ensure people know about the situation, and don’t turn up at the Museum tomorrow night.

Sorry to hear this, is it a lack of attendees contributing (or not) to the funds that has triggered this, or has the museum upped it's prices?

It's a bit of both really, but the costs have more than quadrupled since we returned. We have stayed as long as we could but it is now just no longer viable. But we've been in worse situations, and we'll carry on.
