Talk about the circle of life.

I have just taken charge of a new apprentice. 

When I asked him what had got him into engineering he told me it was his grandfather. 

He went on to explain how his grandfather had worked for a company from leaving school. 

He worked for them for 65years and only retired when the company closed down. 

This was the very same company where I did my apprenticeship way back in the 70's.

It turns out that his grandfather was one of the guys who taught me. 

Now I am teaching his grandson. 

How is that for going full circle.

 I work with a young lad or not so young now 32 for ten years or more before the penny dropped that I knew his dad and was an apprentice in a small joinery shop , small world his dad still calls me young Dave I call him big Dave

That's just amazing. It sounds like the lad knows what is expected of him too, I hope he does well.

From what I have seen of him this week he is going to do very well indeed.

He certainly has his head screwed on right.

My daughter's biology teacher was the son of my PE teacher. What is amazing is that he and I both moved to the west country from Berkshire. 

 

A couple that my daughter served in a bank bought some double glazing from me.
