M81/82 from last night.

Morning folks.

Well I was lucky enough to be up all last night getting some shots of M81/82.

First time I have used the newt with the Canon and I was amazed to find I could get both targets in the same frame.

Anyway the image is made up of 24 60 second subs at ISO 800.

Put through DSS along with darks and flats.

I have played with this in PS6 but have no idea of how to get to what I want.

I have managed to get some of the detail out but cannot get rid of the bright bit in the center.

Very nice Graham. Who did you have to sleep with to get even a short clear sky? :D

Sleep now theres an idea.

It was crystal clear last night from midnight to 3 30 this morning.

Sods law says the guiding played up hence the low number of subs.lol

It's a great start. I think you need a lot more data before you'll get much more detail without blowing the core out.

Nicely framed, Graham.

Nice stars too!

Would mixing subs with different ISO address that issue?.

Perhaps using ISO 100/200 for core work and the usual 800/1600 for the faint stuff?

Regards.

Thanks for the comments.

The photos are the starting point for what is going to be a huge learning curve for me.

I have been playing with this again this afternoon.

Just an experiment to see what all the different things do in PS + the astro plugin.

Not so good on a photo level but it whiled away a good many hours.
