Popular Post philjay Posted December 9, 2019 Popular Post Share Posted December 9, 2019 Been messing with the 1970s Towa 80mm f15 scope the past couple of days and decided to have a play on lunar tonight. Just got set up and the high mist started to intrude messing with the contrast. But I percy veered and grabbed 80 subs with the Olympus OM D EM1 mirrorless. Cos of the small 4/3rds sensor the image scale with native FL of F15 on this scope fills the sensor nicely so apart from a bit of cropping on the sides to make it square this is what you get. 50 from 80 subs of 200 asa 1/125sec. Stacked in R6. Messed about with in PS to try and rescue contrast hence some areas blown. This is colour and shows a slight green fringe on teh limb but it aint bad for a 1970s achromat. It was nice to have a play with the old Towa again, keep clicking for full res tuckstar, BAZ, +RonC and 3 others 6 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

philjay Posted December 10, 2019 Author Share Posted December 10, 2019 Had a play with this today, I converted to grey scale to clear the green fringes caused by achro optics then did a bit more subtle sharpening. Have you just got it and restored it? Had it at least 10 years Dave, I restored it back in 2010, it featured in Astronomy Now at the time along with my old 4" F15. Its a great double splitter and doesnt weigh a ton.
