As soon as I started I remembered why I moved away from the DSLR and onto CCD. Dust bunnies by the truck load 😠 But I carried on just to see what the result would be. Managed to get 29 lights at 300 seconds. No darks or flats. Then came the processing ---- what a nightmare !!!!! Tried stacking the lights in DSS That was a disaster as they came out stacked vertically and without the Galaxy 😪 Tried several times to no avail. This morning I uninstalled DSS and replaced it with the latest version. Success --- well I say success at least it stacked them round the right way and the Galaxy was there. After playing with the sliders I saved the image and moved it into PS6. A lot of beating it to death produced the image below. The image itself is rubbish but it did prove the concept was sound and the guiding was spot on. Not sure where to go with this as far as the canon is concerned. I think the next run will be with the QSI The final image looks nothing like the Tiff I converted to Jpeg much darker and the cores are blown out. I thought that was a no-no if you're post-processing. Perfectly correct but as the image was full of dust bunnies with no darks or flats I was not going to be doing any post processing.
