'After playing with the sliders I saved the image and moved it into PS6'.. Did you save the modified image? I thought that was a no-no if you're post-processing.

IIRC I only increased the stauration by about 20% in DSS saved as a 16 bit tif then into PS for levels, curves etc.

I'm no imaging expert but I thought that any tweeking in DSS results in a none linear image which makes further processing more akward?

Perfectly correct but as the image was full of dust bunnies with no darks or flats  I was not going to be doing any post processing.

It was just a test to see what sort of a result I could get.
