Spores from the Sulphur Tuft Mushroom

Doc

Recommended Posts

Went for a walk down Attenborough Nature Reserve with my dog Nelson the other day and by one of the brooks I noticed a clump of Sulphur Tuft mushrooms  attached to a dead tree trunk. They are poisonous so I wore some gloves and carefully placed them in my container.

Back home I cut a section off and rubbed the gills onto a microscope slide and without adding water placed a coverslip on.

What I surprised at was the amount of what presume is bacteria floating around amoungst the spores, remember these were dry mounted so no water involved.

Taken in phase contrast at 400X
