M81 My first Pixinsight image.

It took a lot of time to get my head around this program.

Thanks goes to Chris P for giving me some pointers.

 

Ok first issue was my flats were total rubbish and did not work so I had to redo this with just darks hence the huge bunny on the bottom.

 

I tried to save the finished image as a TIFF so I could put it back into PS 6 for some noise reduction and tweaking but PS 6 could not read the saved file, Well it did open it but I could not do anything with the image.

I have no idea why so if you do please tell me.

This is what I have come up with in Pixinsight.

Cropped down from the original.

It is as noisy as hell I know but without the Flats it was always going to be.

I will take it for a first attempt.

Hi Graham - Pixinsight default setting for TIFF files is 32-bit. Just select 16 bit and Photoshop will open them. We’ll be covering Pixinsight noise reduction on the forum in the coming weeks so you’re welcome to join us for that

I will give that a go next time.

Of coarse I did not save the final image in Pixinsight so I will have to go back and do it all again.

Still all good practice.

Well done Graham. It takes perseverence (pardon the Mars pun) to get anywhere at all with PixInsight, you've done really well. Stick with it's a hard road, but definitely worthwhile

Managed to convert to 16 bit and get it into PS 6.

Got rid of most of the noise and pull out a bit more colour.
