I'm not sure this belongs here. Read the explanation in link. There was no spectacular fading, as the year before.

Yes. Many people have written that photographic estimates are unreliable. That makes sense to me, unless one has a widefield monochrome camera.

I did have a try at photo estimates once and yes they were unreliable.   I have looked into astrophotometry but haven't actually tried it yet.  Though I still plan to.
