A quick and dirty Solar from today 25.06.2021

Testing out the new Blue filter glass proved to be next to impossible with the Sun playing hide and seek behind the thick blanket of black clouds.

This made focusing virtually impossible.

I did manage to grab a very rough and dirty 500 frame SER through the clouds.

This is the best 60 frames stacked in Registax.

It is a shame as there are several large proms and a lot of sunspots on the go.

The improvement in detail the new glass has provided is amazing.

Just need a spell of clear Sun to test it out properly along with my new flat field adapter.

You saw the Sun!!!! Amazing feat in this weather!

Graham, I'm not a solar imager, what does the blue glass actually do, and what would you use it in conjunction with?

The Blue glass is a transmission filter.

Think of it as an HA filter -- it only lets a certain wavelength of light through.

It is part of the blocking filter which sits immediately in front of the EP or camera and after all the fancy expensive stuff a solar telescope needs to work.
