Popular Post Doc Posted July 11, 2021 Popular Post Share Posted July 11, 2021 I found i had a few hours spare on Friday so went to check if Cotgrave Woods had any purple emperors. It turned out to be a lovely couple of hours spent. Counted 12 species of butterfly and 2 species of dragonfly. Saw White letter hairstreak up high in the tree canopy and one purple emperor sniffing round horse poo. It's been a pretty good month I've managed the Great Reed Warbler at Besthorpe, Roller in Suffolk, Black Browed Albatross at Bempton, and dipped the Rufous Turtle Dove at Easington. +Derbyshire Dave, +RonC, +Graham and 6 others 9 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Some butterflies including the purple emperor allow you to get really close to them, in fact some even hop onto your finger to suck the salts out of your skin. And yes Dave the same ride we visited.
