M16, The Eagle Nebular

First nights imaging for well over 2 months and it started very badly.

I had put the GT 81 back on the mount and the QSI decided it was not going to talk to the computer.

After changing the USB lead and then changing it back a quick squirt of Electrical contact cleaner sorted the problem.

Then I could not get it to focus because I had forgotten to put the extension piece in the image train.

After sorting that little issue out and getting it focused up I had lost well over an hour's imaging time on M16.

Imaging time on this is very limited as it is just skirting the trees.

 

Still I did manage to get 6 x 600 second subs in HA and 3 each of OIII and SII.

I had a hard time processing this as at 600 seconds it had blown out the centre which came as a bit of a surprise.

I will knock that down to 300 second subs next time.

 

Not to worry as at least I managed to get something done tonight.

Sounds like a bit of an epic. Good result, you can relax now into your next session..

I could Dave but I decided to put the 10 inch RC back on the mount today.

I know a glutton for punishment 😂

It's not an easy target Graham, I know I tried it last week! Maybe when it's higher next month I'll have another go!

It was a fight to get it, but there's still detail in it Graham.

I really like that Graham. The colours are great, they make it kind of ghostly.
