Pelican Mosaic in Red..or grey

Interesting. I do too, I think, but I quite like the brightness of the red.

Mono for me to, even though a Ha image effectively just has the one shade of deep red.

As a dedicated visual monkey I am going to get involved in this discussion about colouring in! 🤣

 

It's clear the dedicated imagers like mono and traditionally as mentioned, Ha has been depicted in red. I can see both sides of this and from a purely aesthetic view point I would choose a muted version of that red. The reason why is that it brings out the foreground stars better and gives something to separate the Ha from other objects.

The grey scale though gives better definition to the Ha and looks able to tease more detail from the image, which I guess is the point of doing it. This of course is my personal opinion and has no other scientific basis.

Either way, carry on turning out great images in whatever format you choose as it's still appreciated.

That's really interesting Martyn. The sky, in reality is definitely not mono. That is in line with my thinking of initially converting it to red
