Looks like it's going to be clear.

If it is how about a meet down Sawley tonight starting about 19.30.

If there's a few of us I'll get the key of Glider and see you there.

Hi, I would like to come along, however I am really new to astronomy and don't wanna be a burden. Would it be ok for a 'newbie' to attend?

By all means come and try it. If you do like it and want to join the next meet you will have to subscribe to the darksite group and pay £20, this does get you access to two dark sites, to find out more read here:

I've just looked at the Met Office infrared satillite animation and there's a great big cloud heading our way.

I have got high cloud moving in now, and there's a halo round the Moon.

It looks doubtful judging by the Met office infra red map.

I had a cracking sky last night, but was in York with my Son, and no scope.

Looking at the sky while cooking dinner and can hardly see any stars so I'm going to give it till I've eaten my dinner then make a decision.

Had another look and can only see the moon and Jupiter, high cloud is blocking out all the stars so I'm going to give it a miss.

There will be other times I'm sure.

Agreed, I have come in now it was getting too cloudy. Plus the planes seemed to love passing over Jupiter lol  My screen would go blank for a second then I had to wait for the trail to shift out the way to refocus...and then there's quite a bright moon.....not done good tonight :(

I've just packed up after 90 mins on the drive with the 115 and the new SX 3.7 - amazing eyepiece - Jupiter not so good cos it was hazy most of the time - but the moon hen the clouds got out of the way was awesome at 200x :)

I don't think we had much choice, it's along way for certain members to come down, so a decision had to be made.
