Orion's........ Erm Sword, EMS1

Now known as Orion's Pork Sword thanks to Wayne......

Whilst most turned in early at EMS1 on the sat night, I stayed up and had a go with the ST80 since the EQ5 wasn't playing the game this weekend. I wanted to try and do a semi wide field of Orion's Sword.

Equipment: Scope St80, Mount a dodgey almost in the lake on Fri night eq5 unguided, Camera Canon 350d modded with cls clip filter.

Exposures: 112 x 60 sec subs @ iso800, darks and flats.

Processing: Stacked in DSS, playing with in PS5

I am very pleased with this, although I am sure with a bit of sleep and a lot more time and effort with the processing I can do better. That said, for the equipment I think this is a pretty good attempt. Certainly makes staying up till 4am @ 1 degree C worthwhile IMO. Loadsof shooting stars, a green fire ball and a couple of satelites through there too.

Anyway, here it is......

That awesome mike :) clearly got the running man in there as well. Great effort. Loads of detail.

I love M42. First Messier object I ever saw, for obvious reasons. But still a sentimental one for me.

Another great image from EMS1.

I was starting to think I was the only one still up when I wandered down to you.

That is lovely Mike.

The way you've framed several objects including nebulae and clusters makes it really interesting.

Certainly more detail in the core there mike. Nice work.

However I think I prefer the 1st picture as it has a very nice purple hue to it which I, personally quite like :)

Nice work there Mike. I hope you get your mount sorted but judging by those results your done well taming the gremlins ;)

That's it mike! Perfect compromise. I think in this one a perfect compromise between first two images. In this one there is more contract with the gas areas around the entire nebula. Running man looks great! Good work. Thanks for sharing :)
