DOWNTIME: MIDNIGHT TONIGHT

Craig

Recommended Posts

There will be a significant downtime tonight just after midnight.

We're updating the hosting which means some updates will be made that take time to propagate across the web. Most of us will see the forums come back online in a matter of minutes or hours, but some people may not be able to access he forum for up to 48 hours.

You can attempt to clear your DNS cache if you want (instructions are here) to see if you can get back on sooner. :)

See you in the morning!

Woo. Thrilling stuff!

I knew somebody would get excited by it... these sweet, sweet geeky murmurings!

Craig.

How do I flush my DNS cache?

I think I followed the instructions correctly but this is the output...

peter@zebidee ~ $ /etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart

bash: /etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd: No such file or directory

peter@zebidee ~ $

Do I need to point it to another directory first?

Cheers,

Pete.

I'm afraid I am not overly familiar with your OS. I'd try Googling for the answer, unless anybody else here knows.

You don't need to do it yet though and by morning it may have updated anyway.

Thanks Craig.

Thought I might need to do it before midnight. I will google it.

I like Linux for all the free software, but don't really have a clue how to maintain such a geeky OS :D .

Cheers.

I tried to make the switch but I found myself constantly switching back to Windows (gaming just isn't the same in WINE).
