Guest Jordan Cook shot an O111 layer with our TEC140, Yves Van den Broek and I imaged the Crescent in the 14 inch in HaRGB and Martin Bradley from near Sheffield, a former guest, sent us some O111 he'd done at home to make for 7.5 hours O111 . Not bad but not enough; it's faint, that O111...

What's different about this object is that the O111 simply makes an all new part of the target visible, an outer shell and filaments on the surface of the familiar Ha view.

I found this facinating, though the outer O111 shell does obscure fine detail in the underlying Ha. Still, it's a bit different. Total exposure so far is about 15 hours but I'll be going back for more O111, ideally in the 14 inch.

Now you see, Olly, it's images like this that really inspire me. We all get a certain view with the equipment we have and it's not until an image like this pops up that you realise just how much more there is to discover.

I am grateful to you for showing what is possible and if I can eventually aspire to anything approaching this - I will be a very happy man.

The blue 'continuum' is certainly striking!

Please keep sharing.

Regards.

Absolutely stunning as usual Olly. So much detail in this shot, boggles my mind what is out there :)
