Easier to compare Maks and Scts of the same size. The Sct will have a larger central obstruction than a similar sized Mak, but the Sct will be a spot lighter because it only has a correcter plate. The Make by contrast has a lens making it a heavier beast. Also the Mak will take longer to cool down as a result of that.


 


The other thing to compare would be focal lengths and f-ratios. Both are great planetary observers and imagers so the fl and f-ratio will likely be the deciding factor - along with which mounting options are available to you and whether you're an imager. Price v's budget may figure too.


 


Obviously with different sizes the comparison would have to center more on what you're trying to achieve and the optical qualities of the scopes. Hth :)
