Southern Skies

I'm off to the sunny Falkland Islands later on tonight for a short while with work and am hoping for some clear skies (big ask down there!).

If I am blessed, does anybody have any recommendations for naked eye viewing? Would be a shame to not have a gander.

Thanks.

I could try and source some, it's a pity I cant take my 5in reflector with me otherwise I would, but the again, they wouldn't get any work from me!

Hi Owain,

Pair of binos and a copy of pocket star atlas. Probably worth looking at your planetarium prog, putting in the co-ords for the Falklands and make a note of what is in the sky.

For me the southern sky is about seeing Orion upside down!(compared to here) and viewing the Magellanic clouds.

Cheers
