Altair Astro Telescope carrying handle (Astrofest purchase No 1)

I've been after something like this for years......it's nicely made and means i no longer have to carry my scope from the garage cradled in my arms,

like an unexploded bomb. Makes setting up outside that little bit easier and instills confidence that i'm not going to have an accident.

However, i'm not quite there yet with it. The bolts which go through the handle into the rings are a little short. I'll see if i can source some longer ones.

Secondly, much to my dismay, my current mounting plate wouldn't fit the handle with the tube rings as they were. :(

So.......another new mounting plate (still losmandy) had to be purchased to go with it. Altair did knock a few £'s off though (show discount)

Looks like i'll have an APM mounting plate for sale soon.........

Take a look at the pics  :)

They do very nice carry handles - great quality and good looking too - though a bit pricey when a dovetail on top will do if you're on a budget. :)

I've tried the dovetail on top route before, without success.

The cost of this handle though was actually cheaper than a standard Vixen bar.

That`s the first time I have seen those handles, it certainly looks like it would make lifting my scope onto the mount a less precarious operation. Thanks for the pics.
