Hi all,

I installed the new version of Stellarium the other week and not really used it until last night.

I found that it seems to judder, the previous version would 'flow' when zooming or panning around, but now it judders. Its bad, but a little annoying.

Now, has anyone else experienced this or is it something on my laptop that is causing it.

Thanks.

Martin

Yeah have experienced a little juddering too when zooming in on objects. Will probably be fixed soon with an update. Other than that I like the update much better graphics on nebula/galaxies

I have experienced the juddering on zooming in on my laptop.

Thought at first that it was just because I had downloaded all the star catalogs right down past 18th magnitude.

The juddering does not happen every time and I don't find it a major problem.

The version 12 is still a nice improvement in my opinion.

Appears to run fine here on pc & Netbook.  Worth you chaps having a look to see what else is running in background or on startup, also check the system tray. Pete you should run it on Matthews 6 core beast!!!

Runs perfectly on my Desktop and netbook, like the options for oculars sensors and scopes in top right corner so as to flip between options and see what you should be seeing with different set-ups.

Hi Ron,

Have heard some compatibity issues with s\w and W8. Have you considered dual boot or running virtual xp environment.

Hi Ron,

Suspect some compatibility issues with W8. However if this is the only piece of software that you are experiencing difficulties with then dual booting or running a virtual xp session might be overkill!!!.

Always very wary of MS latest os versions for at least 18 months to two years so they can get all the bugs out. Have xp on netbook and W7 on laptop & desktop all humming along with stellarium release 12..

If I dig anything up I'll drop  you a pm. Please can you pm me with laptop spec and w8 version.

Cheers

Stellarium runs fine on my Win8 installation, no issues at all.

Make sure you have downloaded the latest Windows 8 video card drivers for your PC. I needed to re-install mine after the upgrade.
