No agenda as yet, but here is Dr Ann's last email:

 1.     A reminder about  the Stargazing Event on Friday March 15 at Abbey Park in conjunction with Leicester City Council. If you have already offered to help, thank you very much - I shall be in touch very shortly. If you would like to help and haven't already contacted me about this, please do so asap.

If you would like to go along as a member of the audience, please phone Joy Sullivan on  0116 2333025.

2.       Secondly, I have been asked by Woodland Grange Primary School in Oadby if any members + telescopes are able to help at a Stargazing event they are holding on Wed March 13, 6pm-7pm. Please let me know if you can help and I will put you in touch.

3.      At the last meeting, I spoke about the prospects for Comet PanSTARRS. The Society for Popular Astronomy has published star charts (see following links). The article states that the best views should be had from March 13 onwards.

Wonder if we could see it from the car park at the NSC on the evening of our next meeting, Tues March 12? Worth a try, methinks.

We will be meeting at Mill Lane on Sat March 16 and 23 to observe the comet. Times tba.

4.        How about a photo competition - let's see who can get the best image(s) of PanSTARRS! How about entries to be judged at the meeting on April 23?

Further updates from Dr Ann:

Dear all

1. Our next meeting is this coming Tuesday, March 12 at 7.30pm at the National Space Centre when David Conner will be telling us about 'Magnetism in Astronomy'.

Remember the event we are doing in conjunction with Leicester City Council in Abbey Park this coming Friday March 15.   Any more volunteers?

2. David has sent this interesting link through to a light pollution video

http://www.insurancequotes.org/hidden-cost-light-pollution

3. Look out for Comet Pan-STARRS this week. This website

http://astronomical-calendar.org.uk/index.php/comet-panstarrs has a good day-by-day guide for the UK.

Let us know when you spot it, send any images through - and let's have a Pan-STARRS image contest to be judges at the April 23 meeting. Fabulous prizes!

Hoping to observe the comet from Mill Lane Blaby on Sat March 16 and Sat March 23.   Details to be circulated later in week.

4. If you haven't paid your subs, you will be able to do so on Tuesday. A renewal form was emailed some weeks ago. Please complete this. Membership is £15 for full membership, £8 for students, £21 for family membership.

5. More news on the Greenwich trip on June 8. The cost of the coach will be £15 per person. Entrance to the various attractions at the museum varies so think it's best if you deal with this yourself on the day. However, we need to firmly book and pay for the coach as soon as possible, so if you can bring £15 along on Tuesday, that would be a great help please. This is the travel cost only (but children under 16 go free) . Admission costs can be found here
