I will bring my 200P with everything I have on it (if you want) just to show what sort of mods you can do, I don't class myself as a expert by any means as I have only been in this hobby for just over a year, but I might be able to offer my perspective from a sort of newbie.

Fantastic, I'll bring a refractor seeing as there are so many of these new fangled reflectors around :) .

Any volunteers for talks please?

I could also do with someone taking me through the various filters I got with the Revelation lense/filter starter kit as so far I haven't got a clue what each colour is for!

I may as well get my requests in early lol ;)

Guest Tweedledum

Phil, you can lump planetarium sw into the IT bit ?? Happy to cover.

If I can have some help at the cc getting scope out I reckon I could get the LX onto the back seat. :o

Dan I did a spreadsheet on the antares / wratten numbered filters and what they are best for e.g planetary and lunar, which one brings out what detail in what planet. Ill bring it along for you.

I'll be there and I'm happy to be on hand to answer questions and help newbies setting up. If my back's up to it I'll bring decent scope too - if not it'll just be a grab and go small refractor :)

I think imaging and pc related stuff is a bit too advanced for an intro to astronomy night also together with the basics it would be a bit too much to fit into one night, perhaps a night dedicated to the "Next Step" where those wanting to go a little further into the hobby would be better catered for.

No volunteers yet for sharing the short talks. Its not intended that they be involved, just 15 minutes on the dead basics, you know - this is an altaz mount it goes round and round and up and down orthoganally, this is an eq mount it still goes up and down but the round and round axis is tilted - etc

Im ok to do all the short talks if no one wants to chip in but just give me a bit of notice :)

My car will be full of genny etc so I wont be able to bring any kit so if Im doing the intro talks I will need examples of kit to point at

We already have a few dobs and a mak, Micks bringing a refractor, can someone bring an eq mount please?

Oh and can someone bring some petrol for the genny, I will provide the 1st tank full but that will only last an hour or so.

Phil, I don't mind doing a talk allthough my knowledge is based upon my own scope and mount, never seen (apart from pictures) an eq mount and the only other scope I have looked through is Martyns dob, so the talk would be quite limited, I suppose I could waffle on about focal ratio's, what is a fast + slow scope, why you need to know, mods you can do to a dob base and scope, difference between a dob, an alt az and a eq mount etc etc. But I hope somebody is preperaed to correct me when I mess up, as I`m sure I will - lol.

I was planning a dob workshop, but I can slap the 200p back on the EQ5 and do a talk on setting that up plus collimation.

That would be good.
