Hi folks having bought a very nice 2nd hand C8n it strikes me the focuser is a tad wobbly. Theres a fair bit of up and down movement when moving the focuser in and out. Does anyone know of a fix or a reasonably priced replacement? As I'm not convinced its good enough to get a decent collimating at the minute.

Thanks

Mark

You should find some adjustment screws on the underside of the focuser Mark - but be careful not to over tighten them cos they get thread stripped dead easy with too much force. If you're not sure then it may be best to bring it to a meeting and we can take a look at it for you. :)

There is usually two small allen screw adjusters either side of the focus lock screw.

If you rack the focuser all the way out and adjust the allen screw nearest the scope tube until the wobble is reduced but the focuser still operates without to much stiffness.

Then rack the focuser almost all the way in and adjust the outer allen screw until the wobble is almost gone but the focuser still operates without to much stiffness.

Do this a couple of times until you are happy with it.
