morning all,

after looking at some of my past few months efforts with the Canon 1100d i`ve noticed that all the histogram data is towards the left i.e dark side of the histogram, is there anyway i could stretch the histogram either before or after stacking ? i guess it would be do able in Photoshop but i`m unsure how to do it so any help please much appreciated.

Do it after stacking. Use levels and curves in either photoshop or gimp.

Thanks Mike,

That should help a lot, I've been doing my curves wrongly, I've been moving it up from the middle alittle each time, which doesn't do a lot for adjusting the histogram or bringing out the fainter data.

Good video Mike, but why is the guy only using Grey and a B&W photo? What do you do colour wise? I do each of Red,Green and Blue each time, is that right?

I balance the colours first then treat it in a similar way to the video. I do levels first then curves but the principles are pretty much the same, but for Galaxies I tend to use more of an "S" curve.
