I'd seen the first one but didn't click "watch" as it's pick up only and near middlesborough and i didn't fancy the drive.

Are they any good?

Often sought after as guide scopes, but they are a good little scope in their own right

I have done some of my better images with my trusty old St80 which is now in the hands of Graham.

Is there anything special about these? One of them went for only a few pounds less than the cost of a new one - or is that just ebay fever?

They do keep their value very well, not sure quite why since they are still in production.

That really is an amazing picture. What do you have to do to get an image like that?

Say goodbye to your sanity......

That was just lots and lots of subs, I'm not sure now but I think in total it was something in the region of 5 or 6 hours worth of 90 second subs from a couple of nights or so, then really careful processing so as not to bring out the flaws in the St80's optics. You'll notice a lot of blue in the stars, that is the real downside to the st80. It really was a case of sticking at it to prove that something half decent could come from a budget scope on an unguided mount.
