Picture of the month June 2013

Well what can I say about June?

The weather hasn't really played fair and the lighter nights haven't helped visual astronomy let alone imaging. So my hat is off to those that have managed to get images out this month because it's been a struggle.

Comets, Asteroids, Meteors and Meteorites

No submissions this month.

Deep Sky

Perkil8r showed us a nice view of IC1396 with his first guided image, here http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5178-first-go-at-guiding-ic1396/ a nice view with the elephants trunk showing nicely, and here http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5208-ic1396-2nd-go/

Nice 1st guiding Mike

Andyboy1970 submitted a nice deep M27 here http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5169-m27-combined-data/

Antares_Pauls IC1318 in Ha shows plenty of detail and data http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5201-ic1318-region-first-attempt-in-ha/

Kheldar shows that it neednt be cloudy every time you get a new piece of kit with his Veil in Ha http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5207-first-light-fsq-85edx-ngc6960/

The Veil was Grahams target as well with this nice detailed mosaic http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5209-2-panel-mosaic-of-the-veil/

Sheila got all her new shiny kit working together and gave us a nice ethereal view of IC63 here http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5338-ic-63-finally-getting-somewhere-with-the-kit/

Grahams M101 first light of his GT81 gave nice detail http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5336-first-dso-with-the-gt-30062013/ and shows great promise for this combo.

Lunar

Only 2 images this month

tbird got a quick full moon in on the 22nd http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5278-moon-22-06-13/

and Graham gave us a nice shot through his GT81 here http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5270-first-light-for-the-gt81/

Planetary

tbird gave us a few Saturn shots from the Wymewsold meet http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5170-saturn-1-6-13-from-wymeswold/

plus a Saturn and a Mercury here http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5175-saturn-and-mercury-02-06-2013/ hats off to you Paul for getting a telescopic   image of elusive Mercury.

oldfruit also gave us some images of Saturn here http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5174-saturn-262013/ nice and sharp and good colour

I like Mr Ts afocal image of Saturn with a compact camera here http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5216-saturn-6th-june-2013/ not the easiest method of imaging but a good result.

I like the sharpness of catman161s Saturn here http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5179-saturn-03062013/ Cassini division is very prominent, good work for the poor conditions we have had lately

Sketching

No submissions this month

Solar

I was the only submission for solar this month so come on folks there's been a few sunny days so lets have a few more solar shots :-)

Widefield

No submissions this month

Again, my admiration goes to all you folks that actually got out there in the fleeting gaps between the clouds and actually took images, you all deserve congrats on that score.

As for the image which does it for me this month.....

I think Mr Ts afocal image of Saturn using a compact camera must take the prize for this month http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/5216-saturn-6th-june-2013/

This is not the easiest method of taking planetary images and Mark has got a very sharp image showing Cassini division quite nicely and some banding on the globe with pretty good colour as well. Sterling work Mark

So well done Mark a key for Astrophotography Tools (APT) is on its way to you

A well deserved potm winner there Mark. That's a cracking image for the low tech way you achieved it.

Thanks to everyone else for their sterling efforts, and to Phil for the round up.
