'An introduction to the gear of astro-photography'

Recommended Posts

Found this earlier today (pdf):

A Full and Proper Kit: An introduction to the gear of astro-photography.

http://www.astroasheville.org/astronomy-resources/

Pdf can be found about 3/4 down the page.

"This paper is a discussion of hardware, software, methods and actions that a newcomer might find

useful. It is not meant to be an in-depth discussion of all forms of astro-photography; that would take

many books and more knowledge than I have available. But I hope that my descriptions and graphics

will help a newcomer to the art understand a bit more what is involved in this wonderful pastime."

A couple of years old but gives a decent intro covering most areas of imaging.

I've just saved that as a pdf in case it gets pulled :)

Great find. I look forward to reading it.

A link or a quote is ok James - but direct copying and posting up several pages from a book can leave us and/or yourself, open to legal interpretation. We just like to keep you (and us) free from any hastle or accusation. :)

No, I wasn't referring to my faux pas the other day, I mean I've saved the pdf at the link above on my PC in case they pull the link.

:)

That's absolutely awesome! Great find thanks for sharing. Kim it's freely available to all as a PDF on the website so no copyright laws are being infringed by saving it.

Just for clarity:  The article (along with others) is freely available to download here

http://www.astroasheville.org/astronomy-resources/

I think the only copyright issue is that the author is properly credited with producing the document.

But if there is any doubt then I have no problem with the link being removed.

Ahh OK.

As for this pdf - there is actually a 'Download' link next to each article on their website, so I'm guessing they were expecting people to download it  :)

I've just been through that file and it's good.

I found the bit on how CCD/CMOS sensors work interesting; simplistic but made sense to me.

For a freebie it's good. Really good find, Al.

Sorry James - I thought you were suggesting we (staff) might pull it due to your minor indiscretion the other day lol. I'll leave the advice there anyhow for others who aren't aware.

Anything designated as free downloads are fine. :)

Not seen that before, but it does look very comprehensive.

I'm going to have a good read at that, thanks. :)
