Just ordered an 8mm BST from Skies the Limit, Alan replied to my enquiry email in under 5 mins, then bought of Ebay.

Excellent service as ever!

A 6mm TMB Planetary from Sky's the Limit.

I was tempted by the 4mm, but this is taking it over the limit for the scopes, and if I want to be greedy, I can Barlow it.

Just my thoughts

Wont have been a plane as you would see its lights...

Wont have been a meteor as if you could still see it after the fire it would have been big and on the news

Im going with Micks lantern

Ive seen chinese lanterns go faster than I would ever have believed. If its caught the wind it can go very straight too.

Definitely was not a Chinese lantern!! Aggghhhhh! :) there was a vapour trail and the flight path was far too uniform!! I wish I had not said anything! Lol! I was forgetting about it and now my curiosity has been reignited!

PS I'm pretty sure all the Messier objects are visible from the UK.

They are all visible from the UK but to see the ones in Saggatarius I think you need to go the the South Coast.

A couple of rolls of d-c-fix deco black velour from Wilkinson's (£5 per roll).

Yes, for flocking.

Got these from the Ilkeston branch, but they were the last two rolls of black velour on display.

Have you tried Hobbycraft? If not try the Derby Branch, it's a lot bigger.

I've just finished reading 'Cosmos', probably the best book of its kind I've read, why wasn't I given this to read at school!!!! Every couple of pages has something jaw dropping.

I read this a long time ago, if I remember right it was quite mind boggling but very readable.
