Guest memento2me Posted August 31, 2013 Share Posted August 31, 2013 hi, with only one messier object left to see (damn m83 which is too low to see it from uk except very dark skies) i decided to start with herschel Ä—00. decided to buy Herschel 400 Observing Guide (stephen o'meara) as a helping hand. is there anyone who completed it and how difficult it was to observe them?i will be using 8'' dobsonian with telrad and observing from a moderately dark site. Tweedledee Posted August 31, 2013 Share Posted August 31, 2013 I have the Herschel Guide by O'Meara, it is a really nice book as are his others The Secret Deep and Hidden Treasures. Lots of little gems to view, I've seen a few of them. Generally a bit tougher to see than the Messiers although there are a lot of bright objects. Herschel had a bit less light pollution to put up with though. Go for it and have fun finding them, and post some observing reports.
