hi,

with only one messier object left to see (damn m83 which is too low to see it from uk except very dark skies) i decided to start with herschel Ä—00. decided to buy Herschel 400 Observing Guide (stephen o'meara) as a helping hand. is there anyone who completed it and how difficult it was to observe them?i will be using 8'' dobsonian with telrad and observing from a moderately dark site.

I have the Herschel Guide by O'Meara, it is a really nice book as are his others The Secret Deep and Hidden Treasures.

Lots of little gems to view, I've seen a few of them. Generally a bit tougher to see than the Messiers although there are a lot of bright objects. Herschel had a bit less light pollution to put up with though.

Go for it and have fun finding them, and post some observing reports. Good luck :)
