My go at imaging at EMS 2

If I'm honest I'm feeling like doing a little dance. I have had a bit of a go at imaging before but I'm chuffed right now with these results... :)

I recently got myself a ball head to mount my 1000d (unmodded) with my sigma 150-500 zoom. I discovered a couple of months back that I could get 2 mins unguided at 70mm and thought I would try having a go at 200mm.

After chatting to Mike and going through stuff a bit he gave me a bit more confidence and talked me into trying for 5 min unguided subs. The image of M33 is 14x5 min with equal darks and bias. The Pleides is 7x5 minutes both @ 200mm.... Mike....... Cheers.. :)

Can anyone help as to how I get the images to show on the site please..

Col, fantastic matey, very nice indeed. Glad I managed to twist your arm :)

To post the actual image you have a couple of options, the easiest IMO is to click the share icon (the box with an arrow coming out of it, it's down towards the bottom right) then click on the drop down for "Grab the HTML/BBCode" then copy the contents of that box. Paste that into your reply and all should be good.

I'll do these two for you though :)

Great images Col, both of them. M33 has come out really well but so has M45. Nice captures matey.

What lens were you using? as it really seems to have delivered the goods.

Thank you Mark, I was using a Sigma 150-500 zoom lens which my Mum gave me as it has gotten to heavy for her, I am very surprised at what it has done as I have not used this for astro before except on the Moon. The downside is that I now feel there is a slippery slope on its way....

Those really are crisp, clean captures. You could get the background sky flatter very easily by using Pixinsight's Dynamic Background Extraction or Automatic Background Extraction, the latter a one click affair. Or there is Gradient Xterminator for Ps.

Remarkable images Col. I think you've found your niche at the first attempt.

Look forward to seeing more.
