Did this the other night, I was going to tart it up but haven't got the attention span at the moment.

Craters and  Schroters Valley and main shading drawn at the eyepiece through the 6" F12 with a slight bit of shading afterwards

Lovely Phil, keep thinking about having a go at sketching, I'm no artist by a long shot but I do think it makes you observe so much more detail.

Very nice, I must get my lad out again. Totally agree with above it does make you observe much more intently and pull out detail.

Good one Phil.. Always makes me feel real lazy when I see someone who has made the effort to sit down and do a drawing.

Yep it certainly does, When I 1st started on this I didn't notice the small craterlets top right then gradually at times of steady seeing they would pop into view. Just sticking my eye to the ep for 10 seconds then moving on I would have missed those.

I started doing sketches when I was a lad, no such thing as astro photography for me in the 60s early 70s. Havent really done much since so very rusty but I intend to give it a few more goes I enjoy the challenge.

Sketching is just another aspect of Astronomy for me. I'm afraid there's too much interesting stuff in this lark for me to specialise in just one aspect like imaging, sketching , planets, lunar. I just want to have a go at it all

I get that part..:) Then there is the time time to fit it all in along with working around the weather. Oh yes, as well as working around work..

You do a pretty good job at it though from what I've seen.
