Geminids Tonight

Recommended Posts

According to Metcheck it looks like it will be clearing after 21:00 this evening.

I've never purposely been out to look for any Geminids - Will be worth a look-see ? Not sure or rates or brightness etc.

Cheers

I've read there could be up to 120 an hour at peak, which will be Saturday morning. All depending on this cloud shifting, obviously!

I managed about an hour just after 1:00

Beautiful night. Saw around 13 meteors ranging from faint whisps to very obvious bright. One amazing orange colour streak the Ursa Major

Well worth it.

I saw that great orange streak through urea major too! Easily the best one of the night for me. The rest I saw were green in colour.

I saw a beauty at around 11pm over Orion. Very slow and bright lasting over 1 second. Another couple of faster ones then the clouds rolled in.
