DSLR View Finder problems

Been doing some darks - in daylight/shade with the camera body capped and found a problem caused by light getting into the viewfinder and from there onto the CCD:

My camera body has a viewfinder shutter so with that closed I get:

These were in daylight but shooting at night with LED lights around and long exposures could cause a similar problem.

Need to make sure the viewfinder shutter is closed or that the view finder eyepiece is covered during exposures

Don't know what camera you have Francis but it is a common problem with the Canons.

Soon sorted as there is a cover on the strap. :)

Hi Graham - I use Nikon. They have either a cap that goes in the eyepiece surround or like mine an internal shutter - both probably overkill
