I have never viewed it visually but I chuckled when I read somewhere that "It's an easy target in small scopes".

Through a 81mm triplet I could see a smudge with two embedded stars, but when I viewed this through a 16" dob under dark skies it appeared as a thumb print in the sky, very nice indeed.


 


You do need dark skies though.

it is easy to "see" I've seen it at Belper in 20x 60 binos

 

but as Doc says it is a smudge with 2 stars
