The sun isn't a good one for this time of year but I noticed there was a large sunspot and thought I'd try and image it. A bit of a rush job capturing it, I was waiting for the patchy cloud to clear and not run out of time before it got too low.


 


This is 300 frames from my mono QHY5-II, stacked in AutoStackert! and quickly processed in Paintshop. I've false coloured it, mainly to bring out the contrast (but also appears more like the sun :) )


 


For reference, the Earth is roughly the size of the penumbra of the lower left spot.

Prey do tell me though what is this object, I believe you called it the 'Sun' ??????
