I've been interested in the raspberry pi for a while now. And that is a great use for it.

I'd have no idea how to do it myself though as I've got no knowledge about that sort of thing.

You can get a starter kit really cheaply. as always with this sort of miniturisation its the mmi, and the application is the difficult part. for the most you can connect a standard keyboard, mouse, monitor /tv. Its then up to you to find a problem/application for it!There are some ready programmed apps on sd / micro sd card.
