Wow front and backs?! Thats awesome!

I got into by chance when i went to las vegas in 2006 i was sitting at a one arm bandit in the casino whilst my wife and her family (who we holidayed with) were all jetlagged and asleep and there was a tv set into a pillar that was running adverts. One came up saying "what are you doing tomorrow?" Then proceeded to say "you could be doing this!" And played a load of tandem videos then showed the number for skydive las vegas so i called it, did the jump the next day then in 2008 did my AFF in Australia but broke my ankle on level 2 with an off landing on a cattle farm on uneven ground-strapped my ankle up and continues until level 7 where I had another rough landing and couldn't continue. Then i april 2009 i found hinton skydiving centre and showed them my videos from Australia and the. Just did a check out dive with 2 instructors and then 2 more jumps ans got my A license then slowly have progressed from there and have my B license now and am just a few jumps away from my C license then i can fly camera which will be good :)

Wow. Good stuff felix. The accidents sound a bit rough.

I've been out of the sport for many years now. Not sure I've quite got the bottle and never quite felt I could justify the funds for it. Still have many friends in the sport though and with there many years of experience have gone on to do great things. World records, load organising and competing internationally. We must chat at a meet sometime.

Regards

Steve

Definitely steve :) I am still very junior compared to the seasoned pros. I do like the fact that j started my skydiving journey over in america at the one club that was owned and run by a BPA member (Eddy Carol) purely by chance. I remember saying to him when i landed "im so gonna learn to do this!@ and he replied-"yeah mate, they all say that". He was at this years BPA AGM and collected his certificate for 17,000 + skydives!

Only way i'd be up for it is if i was wearing my rig and preferably wearing a BASE rig :)

Felix a fellow skydiver.....although I haven't jumped in 13 years, I still have my (rather old) PD170  ;) I used to jump at Sibson and Langer.....I do miss it, some days I could just throw myself out of an aircraft. Everyone should have a go at least once.

No way peter! I never knew you jumped?! Awesome pic by the way! We're all after that perfect exit shot aren't we?! Lol! You should get back into it-its a rarity to find skydivers who are also into astro! Its funny too someone I've just met since we moved house said they found it odd that on the one hand i like skydiving and on the other i like something as sedate as astronomy! I think thats the exact reason why i like it though-its the complete opposite! :)

I always loved the exit.....floating off and watching the aircraft disappear into a tiny dot...... I've been thinking of getting back into it....I need to check out the latest regs, strip down my rig and get it checked.

Where do you jump?

The only down side to having Astro and Skydiving as your main pass-time is still the weather!!!!

Yeah I love exits too and trying out different things-but getting that great shot for the camera as you go is always fun!

I mostly jump at Hinton Skydiving Centre. Really friendly DZ. CCI is quite reserved, takes a while to get the measure of you but is a nice guy and an amazing skydiver with over 15,000 jumps-there's nothing he hasn't experienced in the sport. I you do decide to get back into it Peter give a PM and can put you in ouch with Dave (advanced rigger) at DZ great guy and will always go the extra mile to ensure your rug is in top shape. Weather is the limiting factor for our hobbies you're right!

Don't think I'd want to go the extra mile - I'd want to stop at the ground lol

And... I never had a first jump photo when I started on static line so did have one for my 1st FF. The first time I had to pull the handle for myself. Bricking it to say the least but the then CCI who dispatched me say it was the best 1st freefall he'd ever seen (bet he said that to everyone!) Scares me just writing/thinking about it! :)

Nice felix. Free flying was very much in its infancy when I was jumping but I did have a go. Good memories of a linked chute assis style exit involving a few backward somersaults out the door ending linked by the legs, arse to earth, opposite the person I was jumping with. That was over Southport landing on the beach. One of my very last jumps. Wonderful experiences that are still quite vivid even after many years. Truely a way to live the moment.

Pete, I think I recognise you? How long ago did you start at Sibson\langar? I've been to dz's all over the country as a collegiate. Do you remember the skyvan at Sibson?

Have to say looking at some of these other videos parkour over derby or free climbing a mast. There is no way I could do it :)

Felix I'm loving that exit.....what I used to call a Tommy Cooper..."just like that"

I do remember the sky van Steve, but most of my jumps were in the Turbolet at Sibson....and I remember when the doors were opened it smelt like an old trainer after a marathon  that was back in the days when Ronnie O'Brien was there. I did my AFF with Kevin McCarthy at Sibson and only went to Langer a few times.....So it was later 90's when I started, I was there most weekends..

They are moments that have to be experienced to be understood that's for sure. Not a day goes by where I regret learning to skydive-there's no feeling like it :)
