5 meter active usb 2 cable recommendations

can anyone recommend a site or company the supplies good quality 5 meter active usb 2 cables ? need a couple for our trip to SGL now that the two i have are running under the floorboards of the obsy.

from what i`ve read on the net there are cables and then there are cables so need to get some that run at the fastest speeds available for usb 2, also would a usb 3 cable be a good future proof purchase ? althought the rest of my stuff only works on usb2, have read that some cables conflict or not backwards compatable.

thanks for the help.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004LXJZWG/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Just ordered a spare as I'm using 2 and the 10M is a little too short

Also for USB3 you need USB3 on both the Laptop/ computer USB3 is only compatible backwards not forwards plus the longest lengths as about 5m and very expensive about £40 last check if you've only got USB2 connectors hub etc. you can't plug in USB 3 it wont fit

Sorry mate can't comment on that,  I tend to use Amazon as I took out the Prime postage option and forgot to cancel the month free offer so I have paid £40 but get free postage on all Prime products

Have used loads and saved a fortune on postage paid £20 for the 15m cable have a spare 10m now if you want to borrow that at SGL9 ?

I use Astronomiser for all my cables Rob. They're a tad more expensive - but they're tested and guaranteed to work for astro gear. On USB3 - it's supposed to be backward compatible with USB2 - but I've found one instance where I couldn't get an astro device to work with it - probably something to do with it being a USB powered device. :)

Next time  will promise to read the thread :-)

Then this might be cheaper than the £40 quid - Maplins http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/usb-20-a-male-to-a-female-12m-n50jb £28.00 bit long 12m

http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/nikkai-pure-connectivity-usb-20-a-male-to-a-female-5m-l11bt £22 for 5m

But as "The Dark Lord" says http://www.astronomiser.co.uk/converters.htm is £25 quid and is USB 1/23 compat

Rob ,

If it saving money perhaps this below would be cheaper(only £7) but no USB 3 support - if it doesn't work send it back (distance buying law)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/TRIXES-Active-Repeater-Extension-USB2-0/dp/B004S67QR2/ref=pd_sim_computers_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=0RAA63X4SZ42M787C0MN

Note USB recommended cable length is less than 4m although it depends on the wire gauge (SWG) they do not say what the max is - So do you really need USB 3 as I doubt your present kit would run USB 3

Else as Kim say's but it costs more

No I haven't, just really thinking of being future proof but I can't see that usb3 has taken off that fast, so I think usb 2 would be ok for me.

Plus if you want a Newlink USB 2 hub with power supply as per Astronomiser the link below is the same item only £7 cheaper inc delivery

Hope that helps  :)
