Very odd. Just to note, I have the CLS filter and not the CLS CCD. Mine doesn't have the extra IR block.

.........and you don't use it with a lens directly on the camera whose rear element might reflect back onto the filter,

but on your 'scopes, you said.

 

With my 28mm wide angle shot, the rear lens element is extremely near to the clip filter.  

Within about 1mm !! 

 

I shall reflect on these possible reflections. :)
