Jupiter & moons 16/2/12

Desperate to get out with a scope I've managed a bit of observing between the clouds. I've been using an Skyliner 150p, it's quick to setup ( just carry out the garage ) so ideal to make the most of breaks in the cloud.

Jupiter's moons making an interesting pattern, appearing as two pairs on one side of the planet. Magnification of about 200x showed the two equatorial cloud bands clearly with some shading in the polar regions.

Mars was still quite low in the East, so was badly affected by the atmosphere, no detail descernable but a hint of white at the pole.

M42 in a 13mm Nagler impressed as always unitil the cloud beat me.

Still not so bad, documentary about Apollo 17 on Quest on TV now.
