Am i mad

Recommended Posts

Tonight i have been standing in my obs for close on four hours watching my scope track Saturn as she moved behind a wall of cloud.

Gradually the cloud started to break up and small windows to the stars started to appear.

My reward for my stubboness was a 30 second glimps of the grand lady herself at opposition.

For that fleeting moment i stood and stared at the sight of her brilliant bright rings.

All to soon it was over as the clouds claimed her back again.

4 hours waiting for 30 seconds of sheer pleasure.

I am now tucked up in my bed a contented man.

Which takes me back to my question.

Are we all raving mad.

Guest peepshow

If mankind never had bouts of madness to stand and stare at her bright rings etc etc etc

we would still be living in caves.

I like to think we all stand on the fine line between madness and genius  :screwloose:

Graham you made me think of a poem they taught us at school  remembered it now :)

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

that was from junior school    very long time ago
