1.25" filters with ED80 flattener.

Hi


 


I'm thinking of getting a SW corrector/flattener to match my ED80 Pro.


 


Problem is.. Is there a way I can use my 1.25" filters, just short term until I can go for 2" ones.


 


I know it defeats the object, narrowing the light path, but one purchase at a time  :unsure:


 


Help please.  :blush2:

Hi Paul


I presume you would be using them with the Canon 300d, if so then you will get vignetting no matter how close you put them to the camera. I know coause I went through exactly the same thing when I started imaging. With DSLRs as you know get the biggest adapter and filters to cut down on vignetting. If your using a smaller chipped CCD then no problem, that's what I use at the mo with my Atik 314l

As Phil says it's going to vignette a DSLR - it's really, really, really a bad idea :(

I'm currently using the ED80 with the 1.25" T-piece adapter.


 


Yes I get vignetting but it's acceptable for now.


 


I was just wondering, as an interim, if there's a way of using the flattener with my 1.25" filters (IR/UV cut)


 


I will, overtime upgrade to 2".... Already got a 2" LP filter.  :)

Points to note:


 


I believe the money would be better invested in buying a replacement internal IR cut filter for the DSLR (Baader do one I think?)


 


Ultimately 2" is not the best option for DSLR due to many reasons, clip filters would make more sense

All of it I'm afraid, putting a 1.25 filter in the chain with an ED80, flattener and DSLR is just a crime ;)

 

My suggestion would be to sell the filter, put the money towards this (£55)

Then it all screws together and leaves maximum possible aperture open :)
