Lets have a little competition, no prizes but the winner will have the pleasure of knowing that there's have been used in this forum.

Most forums have user ranks and post counts something like:

0-100 you become a nebula

100-200 you become a proto star

You get the idea so the competition is to be as original as possible.

The counts are:

0-10

10-100

100- 500

500-1000

1000-2000

2000-3000

3000-4000

4000-5000

5000-6000

6000-7000

7000-8000

8000-9000

9000-10000

10000-12500

12500-15000

15000-20000

This will be open for about a month.

Best of luck guys.

How about telescopes - start with something naff like a 45 quid scope from Jessops - half way along you work up to an RC Astrograph - and at the end wind up with Hubble or VLT lol :)

The meeting for the approval of funding for the new European Extremely Large Telescope was this week, not heard if it is to go ahead, but it was expected to pass.

Apparently it will have an area which is greater than all the others put together, with a 800 adaptive optic mosaic mirror, which will be 40 meters in diameter. That will be impressive.

I like the star wars idea. How about astronauts that have walked on the moon with Neil Armstrong being top dog?

The problem I foresee is when we have too many Darth Vaders... What a power struggle that would be!

How about starting off as A Neutrino and working up to being a Galaxy, going through all the particles building up in size as it goes along.

All this Higgs-Boson stuff you know!
