Just stacked 5 RAW images in DSS.  The settings were standard with just under 50 stars selected.


Here is a big blow up of the result after some processing.


What are those coloured 5 dot patterns that appear at odd in intervals in the image?


.....any connection with the  FIVE stacked images I wonder?


 


They are not in the original RAW's.


 


Never seen this before with similar stacking.......any clues anyone?


 


Also, what are the score values always given in DSS to each loaded RAW file, please?

Yep, each sub you have there has those same 4 hot pixels. During alignment and stacking the software aligns the stars so if you have any pa alignment issues or rotaion issues the stars will be aligned but the pixels will appear to shift, hence you have 1 hot pixel per sub stretched out in a curve. If you had 20 subs youd have a line of 20 hot pixels.

Darks are the 1st fix
