Flocking a Celestron C8 SCT

Hi Guys

I recently bought a secondhand Celestron C8 SCT.

I noticed that the internal flocking was starting to peel away slightly.

Has anyone opened up a C8 OTA to do a repair job on the flocking?

What is the procedure for opening up the C8 OTA?

thanks

Graham

Hi Graham,

Its not a daunting as it sounds, I fitted a carbon fibre tube to mine, and there are plenty of tutorials on line.  Here's a great one:

Good luck,

I'm new to flocking myself. Flocked only one scope to date.

I would suggest that it might be better and simpler to remove all of the flocking and start afresh, rather than try a repair job. Ùnless, of course, the remainder is really well stuck. At the moment the DC Fix material is only £5.00 per roll from Argos and a you won't use it all on a C8.
