Plus a bird that will be on the endangered species at the rate is disappearing - the humble sparrow. They were prolific years ago. May not be as colourful (OK there not colourful at all) but have there place - mainly food for Sparrowhawk's :D  (not true actual).

Nice pictures, all these birds are in decline, the Greenfinch along with the Chaffinch were clobbered by a virus that appeared in 2005 & was spread by pigeons. 


We have been on holiday to Ireland recently & there are a lot more Starlings there were there are smaller fields & farms, plus mature trees in the hedgerows for them to nest in.


The sparrow seems to be suffering from a lack suitable nesting places & trees etc for cover, they need somewhere to get away from the Sparrowhawk!

The sparrows have done well around here this year same with the starlings


 


Greenfinch I rarely see now as to chaffinch not seen one on the feeders for about 3 years
